At our core, sustainability is our guiding principle, and our journey is firmly set on the path towards a circular model that benefits both our community and the planet we call home.

Every phase of our production undergoes meticulous scrutiny, with a commitment to achieving true circularity. We firmly believe that localization is key to this endeavor; brands that don’t produce locally are missing a crucial element in their sustainability efforts. We challenge them to question, ‘How clean is your green?’

In 2024, our clothing label prioritizes local craftsmanship, avoiding overseas sweatshops. Our onshore production not only supports our country’s infrastructure but also aligns with our commitment to emission reduction and a circular approach.

Located in Bright, our workshop embodies our dedication to sustainability, drawing inspiration from the local mountains. From cutting to tailoring, our hoodies and tees are meticulously crafted in-house.

We uphold Australian-made excellence in every detail, including Melbourne-made metal eyelets and cords. Collaborating with partners across Australia ensures top-quality, locally sourced materials for our garments. Even Nana contributes by hand-knitting each beanie with love.

The journey begins

2015-16

Having studied sustainability in Germany and grown up around his Mothers workroom, Balin always had an interest in combining these things into something.

In a last minute rush for a birthday gift, Jane constructed a shirt from fabric remnants in her workroom. This began the inspiration behind Espire, using remnants to create something unique and local.

We began our journey at our local market in Bright with little more than a handful of items and big dreams.

The pop up shop

2016

During the Summer Months, we ran a pop-up store using an empty ski shop right here in the center of Bright. This was about testing the brand and beginning to develop the ideas of sustainability. At this point it still was a balance between other jobs and University. Here we began expanding beyond our shirt range and introduced our cotton tees.

The Store

2017-2023

After completing a degree in Melbourne we took the brand full time and opened the doors to our store in Bright and evolved into what we are today. A brand revolving around unique hand made pieces with our store being our design and production home on display for the world to witness.

Whats next?

2017-2023

We’re currently heavily working on building an awesome online space to give people a chance to buy any of our unique pieces anywhere in the world. On top of this our mission for a circular brand continues with us aiming to have a fully online second hand market for our own clothes with options to reward customers who return pieces. Furthermore it’s our endevour to expand the store beyond Bright, South Coast Shire perhaps? 😉

Whats from our local city?

Many of our mainline fabrics including our fleece, ribbing and tee fabrics are woven and dyed locally in Melbourne, helping support a small but growing industry in textiles

Beyond fabrics and parts, making our clothing locally means working with other businesses to keep our machines in tip top shape and continues to help keep this industry alive and growing.
